e.l.f. Cosmetics Hydrating Bubble Mask Review and First Impressions

elf-cosmetics-mask If you've recently strolled through a drugstore makeup aisle, you've probably noticed that e.l.f. has been trying to up its game, probably hoping to ditch the reputation as being dollar makeup. I'm personally a fan of e.l.f. products for that exact reason, and they usually are pretty nice for the really low price tag. They've been expanding their shelving in targets, and even have started to be available through Ulta. When I saw that they were putting out some new skin care products, I really wanted to get my hands on some. I'm honestly really lazy when it comes to my makeup regimen, so some cheap products to possibly add to my arsenal is always welcomed.

I'm obsessed with packaging, but the packaging the product came in was pretty run of the mill and nothing special. After all, this is a drugstore product, and the box was something I instantly tossed, so no complaints here.

I was pretty pleased with the bottle that the product comes in. I was a little disappointed that it was made of plastic (it looks like a cute frosted glass pot) but it still is pretty aestethically pleasing. My only problem is that the pump on the container is totally strange, and leads to a total mess when you're using it. Instead of a standard pump like a shampoo jug would have, it has this strange button that then dispenses the product. I had to totally clean off the container after my first use, which was a little disappointing.

The product glides on clear. It had a bit of a cooling affect on the skin, and was easily applied all over my face. It was pretty instant that the mask started to change in color, from a clear gel into a more opaque whip of sorts.

I'm going to be honest, this mask was on the more uncomfortable side for me. I'm not used to feeling a mask move on my face, and with this mask, you can feel the bubbles forming and popping on your skin. This is totally the mask working as intended, but the sensation wasn't for me, really at all.

Once about 30 seconds had passed, the mask was totally bubbly and white on the skin. At this point, I had to hold out until the mask was on the skin for at least a few minutes so I could properly judge it, but I didn't find it to be relaxing like my other masks I have.

Once the mask was washed away, I can't say that I felt my skin was more luminous or hydrated at all. I was disappointed that my skin felt the same, and had seriously high hopes for this product because I had been dying to try out a carbonated mask before. Would I buy it again? Nope, but I'll likely finish off the container just so it doesn't go to waste.
