Thanksgiving is not a good day to try a new product. This didn't seem to dawn on me while I picked up the e.l.f. bright red lip stain I had on the desk in front of me. Seemed like a good idea, yeah, sure.
I had heard from multiple people that these were amazing, long wearing, and didn't dry out the lips. I'm a sucker for e.l.f. because you can buy a bunch for really cheap. I purchased the color "Crimson Crush" and was really tempted to buy the other shades, but figured I should try out one before collecting all of them. Good choice, Emily.
The applicator looks like a sharpie marker. I expected it to have some sort of give when I applied it, but it was hard, and felt sharp against my lips. Being used to liquid lipstick wands, this was really unpleasant. I was really pumped for a red stain, because usually my lipstick is history with my first snack of the day.
The color was pretty, but patchy, and also inconsistent. I can't complain too much though; I only paid about $2 for it.
It didn't last how I thought it would, and I had wiped it away within the hour. None of the color really stayed behind on my lips, which was a little disappointing.
If you're looking for a stain on a budget, then this might work out for you. If you're really looking for a great stain, then I'd air on the side of caution. But seriously, its two dollars. You might as well try and see what you think, and how it looks on your lips. Being super pale, it didn't work too well, but it might work better on ladies who have more pigmentation in their skin.
